Bhubaneswar: The maximum day temperature soared to 40 °C or above at as many as 12 places in Odisha, informed the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Wednesday.
As per the latest IMD bulletin, Jharsuguda recorded the highest maximum day temperature of 44 °C followed by Sonepur at 43.9 °C, Bolangir at 43.2 °C, and Titilagarh at 43 °C, today.
Besides, the maximum day temperature at Angul was recorded at 42.7 °C, followed by Boudh at 42 °C, Sambalpur at 41.6 °C, Talcher at 41.6 °C, Sundargarh at 41.5 °C, and Bhawanipatna 41.5 °C.
Besides, the day temperature recorded in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack stood at 38.5 °C and 37.8 °C respectively.
In its evening forecast, the IMD regional centre here said that there will be no large change in maximum temperature during the next 3-4 days over the districts of Odisha.
Day temperature is likely to be more than 40 °C and likely to be above normal by 2 to 4 °C at many places over the districts of interior Odisha during the next 2 days, the Met centre said.
The weatherman has advised to take precautionary measure for hot weather condition while going outside during midday 12-3 PM.
The regional Met centre has also issued (Yellow Warning) thunderstorm with lightning alert for the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 14.04.2022).
As per the IMD evening forecast, light to moderate Rain/ Thunderstorm very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Angul, Dhenkanal and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
