Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for rainfall across several districts in Odisha.
This alert comes as the state experiences a significant drop in temperatures, with G.Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recording the season’s lowest temperature of 6.2°C on Thursday.
Other areas in Kandhamal district also reported chilly conditions, with Phulbani witnessing a minimum temperature of 8.5°C and Daringbadi recording 10°C. These temperatures mark some of the lowest recorded in the region this season, indicating the onset of winter.
A yellow warning has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Puri, Khordha (including Bhubaneswar), Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
As per IMD, the yellow alert will remain valid for the next three hours.
It is pertinent to mention here that a deep depression is active over Southwest Bay of Bengal and it is very likely to move northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram close to Puducherry around morning of November 30 as a deep depression.
Meanwhile, G.Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recorded the season’s lowest temperature of 6.2 degree Celsius on Thursday. Similarly, Phulbani witnessed 8.5 degree Celsius and Daringbadi recorded a minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.11.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 30.11.2024): Light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.11.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.12.2024): Light rain is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur.
