In a shocking incident, the body of a young man was recovered under suspicious circumstances from a guest house near Nalco Square in Bhubaneswar on Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Sarat Chandra Bhattacharya, who had checked into the guest house with a woman companion. Following his death, the woman allegedly fled the scene, prompting the victim’s wife to file a murder complaint at the Dhauli police station.
According to police reports, Sarat and the unidentified woman had booked a room at the guest house. Sarat was reported missing on December 19, with a formal complaint lodged on December 20. Sources indicate that his condition suddenly deteriorated, and the woman informed the guest house staff. However, upon discovery, the body showed signs of foam coming from the nose, blood from the mouth, and visible injury marks, as alleged by his wife in her complaint.
The Maitri Vihar police station responded promptly, seizing the body and sending it for postmortem examination at Capital Hospital. The body was later handed over to the family. Police have initiated an investigation, treating the case as a suspicious death, with the exact cause to be determined once the autopsy report is received.
The incident has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Sarat’s death, especially given the woman’s disappearance. Authorities are reviewing guest house records and CCTV footage to trace her whereabouts and establish any foul play. Further updates are awaited as the probe continues.
