Top-ranked women tennis players will compete in the WTA Chennai Open 2025 from October 27 to November 2.
The event returns to India after three years and will be held at SDAT Stadium, Chennai. Paris Olympics silver medallist Donna Vekic headlines the entry list alongside Magda Linette and Linda Fruhvirtova. Fruhvirtova won the 2022 edition by defeating Linette in a three-set final. The tournament coincides with the centenary celebration of the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association.
🌍 Eight Top 100 Players Confirm Participation
Eight players ranked in the WTA Top 100 will play in Chennai. Magda Linette (World No. 38) and Tatjana Maria (World No. 44) lead the field. Donna Vekic (World No. 69) and Francesca Jones (World No. 72) will also compete. Lucia Bronzetti, Zeynep Sonmez, Kimberly Birrell, and Leolia Jeanjean complete the Top 100 lineup. Maria and Vekic previously reached Wimbledon semifinals.
💰 Prize Money and Indian Representation
The singles winner will receive ₹31.5 lakh in prize money. Doubles champions will earn ₹11.48 lakh. Indian players Sahaja Yamalapalli, Shrivalli Bhamidipaty, and Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi may enter the main draw. The singles draw includes 32 players, with wild cards and qualifiers. The doubles draw features 16 pairs, including two wild cards.
