Despite Jemimah Rodrigues’ valiant effort, scoring 56 runs off 35 balls for DC, the team was bowled out for 144 runs in 19.3 overs.
Earlier in the match, DC captain Meg Lanning won the toss and elected to field. DC’s bowlers initially tightened the screws on UPW’s scoring rate, but Henry’s powerful batting turned the tide. UPW’s total of 177/9 was a challenging target for DC to chase.
Kranti Goud’s exceptional bowling performance, which included the prized wickets of Lanning and Verma, ensured UPW’s dominance. Grace Harris capped off the night with her hat-trick, making her the third player to achieve this feat in the TATA WPL.
In the end, UPW emerged victorious, breaking the “chase and win” streak that had characterized the season so far. This win provides a significant boost to their campaign as they look to build momentum in the tournament.
