New Delhi: Every year on June 14, World Blood Donor Day is celebrated. This day is celebrated every year to spread awareness about the significance of blood donation and to recognise the contribution of voluntary unpaid blood donors in saving lives.
This day was first organized by the World Health Organization on June 14, 2005. Since then, this day is celebrated to raise awareness as well as thank the various blood donors around the world who do their bit to save a life.
In many countries, blood shortage is a massive problem that is faced by their public health services. It is blood donation and transfusion that is the main solution here. Especially during COVID-19, plasma and blood donations have been the beacon of hope for those who were suffering from the deadly virus. It has managed to saved several lives.
This year, the theme, rather the slogan, for the day is ‘Give blood and keep the world beating.’
