New Delhi: The Indian bowlers steamrolled past the Thailand batters in the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 match at Sylhet on Monday, packing them for a paltry 37 in 15.1 overs.
Chasing a target of 38 runs, India lost Shafali Verma early but Sabbhineni Meghana and Pooja Vastrakar remained unbeaten to take the team home with 9 wickets to spare. Earlier, Sneh Rana (3), Deepti Sharma (2), Rajeshwar Gayakwad (2) and Meghna Singh (1) were among the wickets as India bowled out Thailand for just 37 runs. India, all but assured of a spot in the Women’s Asia Cup semi-finals, take on Thailand in their final league game of the tournament today.
India have been in great form throughout the competition, and after suffering an upset against Pakistan, bounced back to trounce Bangladesh. Thailand, meanwhile, will want to cause an upset of their own and ensure that they reach the semi-finals themselves, having registered a famous win against Pakistan, followed by victories against UAE and Malaysia. It will be interesting to see how India approach the match, having experimented a lot through the tournament.
