Cuttack: A woman has been brutally murdered by her two sons in Mahanadi Vihar in Cuttack on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Anima Mohanty (75).
The accused sons Anurag Mohanty and Anshuman Mohanty allegedly killed their mother by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon. The exact reason why the woman was killed is yet to be ascertained.
According to reports, Anima and her two sons resided at Plot No. 714 in Mahanadi Vihar. The sons are suspected to have mental illnesses. Anima often stayed at a relative’s house and had only recently returned home. Since her return, there have been quarrels between her and her sons over an issue. This might have led to the murder of the woman.
On receiving the information, the Chauliaganj police station reached the spot and started the investigation Sources said that there was some dispute in the family which could have led to the brutal murder. Along with this, the police have sought the help of a scientific team. One of the sons was detained by the police while the other son was absconding.
