New Delhi: WhatsApp announced the debut of Call Links, a brand-new feature that’s pretty self-explanatory. This allows users to join a video or an audio call using a link.
The link will have to be generated using a new ‘create call links’ option, that can be found in the calls tab. Once generated, this link can be shared with other users across platforms, and they can click on it to instantly join a call.
Zuckerberg also said that WhatsApp is testing the ability for end-to-end encrypted group video calls for up to 32 people. The current limit to a group video call is 8 users.
The reason for adding this feature would be to make group video calls more convenient. It is expected that users can get their hands on this feature within a week.
Once updated on the app, the user can find the option to create the call links in the call tabs. After tapping on the create call links, one will be able to share links for both the group audio and video calls. The link can be shared on the other platform which makes it even more convenient for users to join with a single tap.
