In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, Vir Vikram Yadav, a senior Odisha-cadre IAS officer of the 1996 batch, has been appointed as the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.

The announcement, made public on Friday, marks Yadav’s transition from his current role as the Works Secretary in the Odisha state government to a pivotal position in national environmental policymaking.

Yadav, known for his contributions to infrastructure development in Odisha, will now join the team under Union Minister Bhupender Yadav at the MoEFCC, a ministry tasked with addressing some of India’s most pressing environmental challenges.

This move comes amid a series of high-profile appointments of Odisha-based bureaucrats to the central government.

Earlier today, senior IAS officer from Odisha, Nikunja Bihari Dhal (1993 batch), was appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, replacing Urmang Narula upon his superannuation on April 30, 2025.
