Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested Additional Superintendent of Police (Communication), Trinath Mishra on charges of corruption.
According to officials, the Additional SP was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily. He will be forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack this evening.
The anti-corruption agency conducted raids at multiple locations linked to the ASP for allegedly acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During the raids, the authorities unearthed several luxury cars and superbikes including a BMW X7 car worth Rs.1.11 crore, GTR 250 Hyosung Bike worth Rs.5.3 lakhs and a Triumph Rocket 3 worth Rs.20 lakhs.
The luxury cars and superbikes were found to be registered in the name of Mishra and his family members.
The vigilance authorities also came across several documents and evidence that showed the involvement of Mishra’s son and his family members in several business enterprises including a Hospital and Medical Care center (Shantilata Care Nursing Home) at Chandikhole in Jajpur district and a medicine store (Shanti Drug House). Both are licensed in the name of Mishra’s wife.
Trinath Mishra’s assets have been evaluated at Rs 11.2 crore which includes four plots and seven expensive cars. The disproportionate assets (Rs 11 crore) have been estimated at 500 per cent of his known sources of income.
