Mumbai: The Mumbai Police have launched the process to extradite Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, following an alert from US authorities regarding his presence in the United States. Anmol Bishnoi, 25, is implicated in several high-profile criminal cases, including a shooting incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai.
The alert from the US has prompted swift action from the Mumbai Police, who have already begun the necessary legal procedures to bring Anmol back to India.
Last month, the Mumbai Police filed a petition in a special court seeking permission to initiate extradition proceedings. On October 16, they informed the court of their intent to extradite Anmol Bishnoi to face charges related to the Salman Khan case and other criminal activities.
Anmol Bishnoi has been on the radar of Indian law enforcement agencies for his alleged involvement in orchestrating operations on behalf of his elder brother, Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently incarcerated in Gujarat’s Sabarmati jail. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had previously announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to Anmol’s arrest.
The extradition process, if approved, will involve coordination between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs, with the latter liaising with US authorities to facilitate Anmol’s return to India. This move is seen as a crucial step in curbing the activities of the Bishnoi gang and bringing its members to justice123.
