To address declining application rates for specialised government posts, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has launched an email alert system targeting universities and professional institutions.
This initiative is designed to ensure the timely dissemination of job vacancies, particularly in domains like law, medicine, engineering, and finance.
Previously reliant on its website, Employment News, and LinkedIn, UPSC now aims to deliver recruitment alerts directly to institutional inboxes. Recognised bodies can subscribe by emailing ra-upsc@gov.in with the subject line “Subscription Request – UPSC Recruitment Alerts.”
UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar highlighted the urgency of the move, noting that several posts remain vacant due to low applicant turnout. “Sometimes, the posts become infructuous during the interview stage as suitable candidates are not found,” he said.
The Commission processes over 200 recruitment proposals annually, with 240 already received in 2025. Ministries have been urged to streamline proposals early in the year and amplify outreach through their platforms and public broadcasters.
This direct communication model is expected to enhance visibility, improve merit-based selection, and ensure that opportunities reach deserving candidates without delay.
