In a thrilling encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, UP Warriorz clinched a dramatic 4-run victory in the first-ever Super Over in TATA WPL history, defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The star of the match, Sophie Ecclestone, delivered an outstanding all-round performance, scoring a crucial 33 off 19 balls and then holding her nerve in the Super Over to seal the win for her team. Her exceptional efforts earned her the Player of the Match award.
RCB, led by a brilliant unbeaten 90 off 56 balls from Ellyse Perry, set a formidable target of 180/6. However, their efforts were in vain as UP Warriorz, riding on notable contributions from Kiran Navgire, Deepti Sharma, and Grace Harris, matched the score to force a Super Over.
In the Super Over, Ecclestone showcased her bowling prowess, conceding only 4 runs and securing a famous win for the Deepti Sharma-led UP Warriorz. This victory marks UP Warriorz’s second consecutive win in the tournament.
