The body of an unidentified young man was recovered hanging from a tree near NALCO Square in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, creating panic and raising serious questions in the capital city.
The incident, reported around the Maitri Vihar police station jurisdiction, has left local residents shocked, and authorities are investigating whether it was a case of suicide or murder.
According to preliminary information, locals spotted the hanging body on a tree near NALCO Square and immediately alerted the police. Teams from Maitri Vihar police station, along with fire service personnel, rushed to the spot and retrieved the body. It was then shifted to Capital Hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The deceased is estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, but his identity remains unknown so far. Police have launched an investigation and appealed to the public to come forward if anyone recognises the individual or has any relevant information.
The discovery has once again spotlighted concerns over youth mental health, safety in urban areas, and the rising incidents of unnatural deaths in Bhubaneswar. Authorities have urged citizens to contact Maitri Vihar police station if they have any leads on the victim’s identity.
The matter is under active probe, and further details are awaited from the post-mortem report and ongoing inquiries.
