Two terrorists were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army confirmed.
The gunfight erupted in the Sarjeevan area near Uri Nala during an infiltration attempt by two to three terrorists.
A significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and other war-like materials was recovered from the slain militants. The operation remains ongoing, according to an official post by the Indian Army on X.
This operation follows the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow—often dubbed ‘Mini Switzerland’—which claimed the lives of 26 people and injured several others. The assault, targeting a popular tourist destination, has shocked the nation.
In response to the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his state visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to Delhi on Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, he held an urgent meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. PM Modi had been on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman but skipped the official dinner to return early.
