Sambalpur: Following a gradual decrease in the inflow of water into the Mahanadi from the upper catchment areas, authorities today closed two sluice gates to keep the water level maintained.
With the closure of two gates, the floodwater is being released from the dam through 12 sluice gates.
Currently, the water level at the reservoir stands at 605.54 feet by 6.00 am against the total storage capacity of 630 feet.
While the inflow of floodwater into the reservoir is 1.799 lakh cusecs, the outflow is 2 lakh cusecs.
The maximum storage capacity of the dam reservoir is 630 feet, while the dead level of the reservoir for agriculture and power generation is 590 feet.
