Dhenkanal: Two minor girls drowned after falling inside a water-filled pit at Kanheipal village under Bhuban police limits in Dhenkanal district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Priyanka Patra (7) and Shruti Patra (6), both belonged to Kanheipal village.
According to reports, Priyanka along with Shruti had gone to a local eatery on Saturday evening. While returning home, the minor girls accidentally fell into the pit filled with water and went under.
Later, they were rescued from the pit and rushed to Kamakhyanagar hospital. However, the duo was declared brought dead.
Sources said the ditch was dug by a local for constructing his boundary wall.
