The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of weather warnings for Odisha as two fresh low-pressure systems are expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal, bringing widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across the state in the coming days.
According to the IMD’s forecast, the first low-pressure system is likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. A second system is expected to develop over the east-central Bay of Bengal around September 25. The latter is projected to intensify further, potentially into a depression, and significantly influence weather conditions over southern and coastal Odisha.

Fishermen Advised to Stay Ashore
Given the developing weather systems, IMD has issued an advisory for fishermen, urging them not to venture into the North Bay of Bengal or along and off the Odisha coast between September 21 and 25.
Possible Impact on Coastal and Southern Odisha
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, as the second system’s potential intensification into a depression could bring more intense rainfall, leading to waterlogging, flash floods, and disruption to transport and daily life in parts of Odisha.
