The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the possible formation of two fresh low-pressure areas over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal within the next 12 hours.
This development may lead to intensified rainfall across coastal and interior regions of Odisha.
According to the IMD bulletin, the twin systems are expected to evolve into more organised weather disturbances, potentially deepening into well-marked low-pressure zones. The recurrence of such systems over the same region has sparked concerns over persistent rain and localised flooding in vulnerable districts.
Weather experts indicate that the northwestern Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal zones remain conducive for cyclone-like developments during this monsoon phase. An active monsoonal trough and rising sea surface temperatures are aiding this pattern.
The Odisha government has issued advisories to fishermen and coastal residents to stay cautious, while the agriculture department has alerted farmers to prepare for excess precipitation.
This is a developing story. IMD and regional weather centres are closely monitoring both systems for further intensification.
