US President Donald Trump has announced a massive $15 billion defamation and libel lawsuit against The New York Times, accusing the newspaper of decades of biased coverage and deliberate misinformation.
In a fiery post on Truth Social, Trump called the NYT “one of the worst and most degenerate newspapers in American history” and alleged it has long acted as a “mouthpiece for the radical left Democrat Party.”
“Today, I have the great honor of bringing a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against The New York Times… I view it as the single largest illegal campaign contribution, EVER,” Trump wrote.
He specifically criticized the paper for its endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 elections and for what he called a “decades-long smear campaign” against him, his family, his business, and the MAGA movement.
Trump also claimed victory in previous lawsuits against media outlets like ABC/Disney and CBS/Paramount, alleging they had falsely smeared him through manipulated reports and visuals — cases that he says were settled for “record amounts.”
The lawsuit comes days after The New York Times reported that Trump had allegedly sent sexually suggestive birthday notes to Jeffrey Epstein, claims the White House has strongly denied, dismissing the documents released by Congress as “fabrications.”
