Trump Claims Credit for India-Pakistan Ceasefire, Sparks Controversy With ‘N Word’ Remark

US President Donald Trump has stirred controversy again by claiming he brokered the ceasefire between India and Pakistan following heightened tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Speaking in a Fox News interview during his visit to the Middle East, Trump referred to the situation as dangerously close to reaching what he called the “N word”—a euphemism for nuclear conflict.

“It was getting deeper. Everyone was stronger, stronger to a point where the next one was gonna be, you know what… the n word,” Trump said. “You know what the n word is, right? It’s the N word. That’s a very nasty word, right? In a lot of ways. The N word used in a nuclear sense.”

Trump described the alleged ceasefire negotiation as “one of the biggest successes he has ever been given credit for.”

However, his claims have been refuted by the Indian government, which emphasized that the ceasefire understanding was the result of direct bilateral talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGsMO) of both countries — not international mediation.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated that India’s long-standing position is that issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir must be resolved bilaterally between India and Pakistan, rejecting any third-party involvement.

This is not the first time Trump has claimed involvement in India-Pakistan affairs. His earlier offers to mediate on Kashmir were firmly dismissed by New Delhi, which reaffirmed its position of no foreign intervention in internal matters.

The use of the term “N word” in the context of nuclear weapons, along with the assertion of diplomatic credit, has drawn criticism and sparked debate on Trump’s diplomatic style and its accuracy, especially in the sensitive context of South Asian geopolitics.
