As the Noida International Airport approaches its operational launch, authorities have issued a stringent advisory banning any construction or tree plantation within a 20-kilometre radius unless cleared by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
This directive comes as part of efforts to preserve flight safety and safeguard essential navigation systems.
According to airport COO Kiren Jain, the move aligns with the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s GSR 751(E) regulations, which prohibit unapproved vertical developments that could jeopardise Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) and aircraft routes.
Builders, residents, and public agencies must consult local authorities and refer to the AAI’s Colour-Coded Zoning Map to determine permissible heights before initiating any projects. Applications must be processed through the NOCAS portal to receive the mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC).
In case of non-compliance, legal provisions under the Aircraft (Demolition of Obstructions caused by Buildings and Trees) Rules, 2023 empower officials to demolish unauthorised structures and impose penalties.
The advisory sends a clear message: public safety cannot be compromised. With aviation infrastructure at stake, stakeholders are urged to strictly follow guidelines to ensure smooth, safe, and obstruction-free airport operations.
