Hathras: A stampede at a religious congregation in a village in the Hathras district on Tuesday resulted in at least 27 deaths and numerous injuries.
Rajesh Kumar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police in Etah, said the incident took place at a Satsang in Pulrai village, where a large crowd had gathered. “Twenty-seven bodies have arrived at Etah Hospital.” “Among the dead are 23 women, three children, and a man,” he told reporters. According to Ashish Kumar, SHO of Sikandra Rao Police Station, the stampede was caused by overcrowding.
According to officials, a team led by the Agra additional director general of police and the Aligarh divisional commissioner will investigate the incident. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the stampede and directed officials to go to the accident site and carry out relief efforts.
