TMC to seek reservation of one-third of seats in Lok Sabha & assemblies for women

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) lawmaker Derek O’Brien on Monday plans to move a motion in Rajya Sabha seeking the passage of a bill to reserve one-third of seats in Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women. Mamata Banerjee, the TMC chairperson, is India’s lone woman chief minister. O’Brien will move the motion under Rule 168, which allows members to raise issues of public interest.
