Three students from a girls’ hostel in the Govindpur police station area of Sambalpur went missing on Sunday, prompting an extensive search operation and a detailed investigation by local police.
According to initial information, two Class 9 students and one Class 10 student were found missing from the hostel premises. The incident came to light after the hostel warden filed a formal complaint, following which Govindpur police began an inquiry. As of the latest update, no information about the students’ location has been confirmed.
Search Operation Intensified
Reports indicate that the students were last seen around 5:30 pm on Sunday. During the investigation, police reviewed CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace their movements. Search efforts were also extended to bus stands and railway stations, considering the possibility that the students may have travelled outside the locality. However, no definitive leads were found at the time of reporting.
Parents Voice Safety Concerns
Once informed, the guardians of the students reached Govindpur police station and held discussions with school authorities. They expressed concern over the lack of information and questioned the safety protocols followed within the school and hostel premises.
Several guardians also alleged that negligence by school authorities and hostel staff contributed to the incident, highlighting gaps in monitoring systems and security checks for students in residential schools. The situation has raised broader concerns among parents and community members about the safety measures in place at hostels.
Investigation Continues
Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and all efforts are being made to trace the students. Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to contact the local police immediately.
