In a major operation, Rourkela police conducted a significant encounter in the Lahunipada and Chandiposh police station areas late Saturday night.

Three most-wanted criminals were seriously injured during the encounter and have been admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital for treatment.

The special police team carried out the operation after the suspects attempted to evade capture. The injured criminals have been identified as Chandu Nayak, Paras Ram, and Rajesh Singh.

According to police sources, these individuals were involved in multiple dacoity incidents in areas such as Koira, Banki, Rengalbenda, and other regions in recent days.

The encounter took place in the Lamse and Kucheita areas late last night. All three are currently undergoing medical treatment at the government hospital.

This simultaneous encounter of the three notorious criminals marks a significant success for Rourkela police. Additionally, the remaining five members of their gang have been arrested. From the suspects, police recovered three pistols and one motorcycle.

The eight-member gang had been carrying out dacoities across various parts of Sundargarh district, instilling fear among locals and disrupting sleep in the community. Just a few days ago, they committed an armed robbery in the Koira police station area.
