Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s latest horror comedy Thamma has opened to a blockbuster response. The film, produced by Maddock Films, earned Rs 32 crore worldwide on day one, marking one of the strongest openings for a Hindi film in 2025.
Strong Opening in India
According to Maddock Films, Thamma collected Rs 25.11 crore net (Rs 30 crore gross) in India on its first day. The Diwali holiday gave the film a major boost, with evening show occupancy rising to 40%, driven by positive word-of-mouth reviews.
Box office tracker Sacnilk confirmed that the film had a slower morning start (15–16% occupancy) but picked up rapidly by night.
Overseas Collection
In overseas markets, Thamma earned just under $250,000 (Rs 2 crore approx.), taking its global total to Rs32 crore on day one. Since Diwali is not a public holiday abroad, this was considered a mid-week release in most regions.
Beats Saiyaara, Stree, and Bhediya
Thamma’s Rs 32 crore worldwide total has outperformed other major Hindi releases of the year like Saiyaara (Rs 30 crore) and surpassed earlier Maddock Horror Comedy Universe hits such as Stree (Rs 10 crore), Bhediya (Rs 12 crore), and Munjya (Rs 5 crore).
However, it still trails behind Chhaava (Rs 47 crore) and Stree 2 (Rs 80 crore), the latter holding the record for the biggest opening for an Indian horror film ever.
