A fire caused by a short circuit in Paikarapur, Bhubaneswar, triggered widespread panic late Saturday night, as residents feared it was a drone strike amidst ongoing India-Pakistan tensions.
Eyewitnesses reported that a loud explosion accompanied the fire, prompting concerns of an aerial attack. However, authorities later confirmed that the blaze was a result of an electrical fault, dispelling initial fears.
The incident unfolded shortly after India accused Pakistan of breaching a ceasefire agreement, adding to the tension in the region. The scare follows heightened national security concerns post-Operation Sindoor, a military response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Officials assured the public that the situation is under control, emphasising that normalcy is gradually returning.
