Indore: Counselling for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to professional undergraduate courses at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) began on Monday with strict precautions following the death of a senior professor, suspected to be from swine flu.
On the opening day, coveted seats in courses like BA LLB, MBA (Management Science), BCom (Honours), MBA (e-Commerce), and MBA (Foreign Trade) were quickly filled. Enrollment in other courses varied, with 20 to 70 per cent of seats being claimed. Due to the recent swine flu-related death, rigorous health protocols were implemented.
Faculty and staff wore masks, and students were advised to do the same. Social distancing was maintained to ensure safety throughout the counselling. General category counselling is set for Tuesday, covering high-demand courses such as BCom (Account and Tax Management), MTech (IT-Integrated), MCA (Integrated), BPharma, and BSc (Electronic Media).
The sessions are taking place at the School of Economics on Khandwa Road, DAVV. Dr Kanhaiya Ahuja, the CUET chairman, reported that five courses were fully subscribed on the first day, with more than half the seats in other courses also filled.
