A man was brutally murdered on allegations of witchcraft in Atgaon village, under the Tusura police station in Bolangir district.

The deceased has been identified as Shyam Bag.

As per reports, a violent altercation between the Bag and Rana families erupted, resulting in the brutal murder of Shyam Bag over allegations of witchcraft. Shyam Bag’s parents, who were also injured in the clash, are in critical condition and have been admitted to Bhima Bhoi Hospital for treatment.

Balagopal Rana, who confessed to the murder, is currently in police custody and undergoing medical treatment. His mother and son, also injured, are receiving care at Bhima Bhoi Medical College. Sources indicate that the two families have been in a dispute for the past year, with previous cases filed at the Tusura police station.

Police, including Bolangir SP, ASP, and SDPO, are actively investigating the incident. A scientific team has inspected the scene, and police have seized a turban, a stick, a machete, and other deadly weapons linked to the murder. Shyam Bag’s body has been sent to Bhima Bhoi Medical College for an autopsy. While Balagopal Rana has been arrested, other suspects remain at large. Tension continues to grip the Tusura police station area following the incident.
