The Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre, in collaboration with the Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy and Lokakala Sangha, under the aegis of the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department, will host the State-Level Gotipua Dance Festival from August 30 to September 1, 2025.
The event will take place at the Utkal Rangamanch within the premises of the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odishi Research Centre in Bhubaneswar.
This vibrant festival will feature 20 dance troupes showcasing the traditional Gotipua dance, a cornerstone of Odisha’s cultural heritage. Alongside the captivating performances, the festival will include engaging discussion sessions on topics such as “The Music, Instruments, and Performance of Gotipua,” “The Evolution of Gotipua,” and “The Originality and Costumes of Gotipua.”

Additionally, rare video recordings of Gotipua dance traditions, previously performed at ancient monasteries and temples and archived by the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre, will be screened at the Utkal Rangamanch auditorium.
The festival will bring together Gotipua dancers, gurus, dance researchers, and distinguished personalities, offering a platform to celebrate and preserve this unique art form. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of Odisha’s cultural legacy, attracting art enthusiasts and scholars alike.
