A disturbing case has emerged in the Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar, where a speech-impaired female ITI student was found hanging in her rented room.
The deceased Annapurna Nayak (21), reportedly from Rayagada district, was living alone for her studies. Her lifeless body was recovered by police following a distress call. While preliminary signs suggest suicide, the family of the young girl claims a youth may be responsible for instigating her death.
Reports indicate that while studying at the ITI institute in Khurda, the girl had previously filed a complaint against the youth at the police station for making unwanted advances and harassing her. Allegations further suggest that the young man attempted to pressure her into marrying him again and threatened to leak a video taken of her while she was bathing. As a result of these pressures, she allegedly took her own life last night.
Police have seized the body and launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
