US: Apple will likely announce updated versions of its iPad lineup this week with top-of-the-line silicon chips and other internal upgrades.
The company is anticipated to update specifications rather than make significant design changes to the iPad Air, iPad mini, and basic model iPad.
The timing is appropriate because the iPad Air and iPad mini updates are overdue. According to the report, the tablets will receive an upgrade in October with Apple silicon chips of a newer generation.
The M2 and A16 Bionic chips will be upgraded for the iPad Air and mini.
OLED panels are anticipated to debut on the upcoming iPad Pro models.
The M1 chip-equipped iPad Air and the 10th-generation iPad were updated by Apple last year.
“The new iPad mini should sport an A16 Bionic chip, offering a small improvement over its current A15 Bionic chip,” said the report.
A new display controller will be included in the updated iPad mini to lessen the effects of the jelly scrolling problem.
The iPad’s base model last received an update one year ago. The 10th-generation model added a Touch ID side button, new colors, and a redesigned thin-bezel design.
It’s powered by the A14 Bionic chip right now. The iPad Pro product lineup will not change.
