Cuttack: Medical Profession is a vow, not an occupation as physicians are considered as the second God, said President Droupadi Murmu.
Addressing the annual function of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack as the Chief Guest, Murmu said the premier health institute has become a mini India. The reputation of SCB is not only in Odisha or East India but all over the country. She praised the doctors working here for service of mankind.
Over the past few years, the progress in the field of medical science in the country has given a new perspective to the whole world.
The President said that she is hopeful that the tradition of medical services will continue here with determination. Today’s medical students can become a vision of service for tomorrow, she said.
Giving evidence to the adage of Narayan Seva (service of God) in Indian culture, the President said that rulers, administrators, engineers, teachers can all serve the poor but cannot relieve anyone from suffering. This is the specialty of the medical profession compared to all others, she maintained.
