Cuttack/Sambalpur: The Odisha Vigilance on Monday apprehended Sambalpur’s Jamankira Revenue Inspector (RI), Manoj Kumar Mahananda, for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 from a person in order to prepare the field verification report for partition of the later’s ancestral landed property.
According to a press note by the Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack, the Complainant had applied on 28.12.2021 before the Tehsildar as per orders of the Court for partition of land. But Jamankira RI was demanding bribe for preparing report for partition of land for issuance of separate RoRs in favour of Complainant and other shareholders of his family.
On basis of the complaint, a trap was laid on Monday (18th April) wherein the accused RI, Manoj Kumar Mahananda, was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in the waiting hall of the bus stop at Jamankira while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.9,000 from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Mr Mahananda and seized in presence of witnesses. Left hand wash as well as pant pocket wash of the accused gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of RI Mahananda, at Govindatola, under Dhanupali PS in Sambalpur and house at native village Singhari, Kalapathar in Sonepur.
“Jamankira RI Manoj Kumar Mahananda, has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.16 dated 17.04.2022 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation,” reads the Vigilance press note.
Multi Purpose Health Supervisor Caught Red-Handed While Taking Bribe
In one more Vigilance Operation today, Balakrushna Padhy, Multi Purpose Health Supervisor, Community Health Centre (CHC), Kelluapalli under Golanthara PS in Ganjam has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2,000 from a complainant for issuance of Birth Certificate of his niece.
Mr Padhy was supposed to issue the said Certificate within a week after birth of the child as per Govt. rule. But he was demanding bribe for the same.
On basis of the complaint, a trap was laid on (18th April) wherein the accused Balakrushna Padhy was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in the premises of CHC, Kelluapalli, Ganjam while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2,000 from the complainant.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Mr Padhy and seized in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash of Mr Padhy gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Mr Padhy at Balaji Nagar, Gosaninuagaon, Berhampur and office room at Kelluapalli. The accused, Mr Padhy, has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.5 dated 17.04.2022 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation, the press note further read.
