Odisha Vigilance officials today apprehended Dr. Subha Prakash Soren, Block Veterinary Officer (BVO), and Maheswar Sahu, Programme Assistant, for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a poultry farmer under the Go-SUGAM scheme.
The operation was initiated following a complaint received on the Vigilance Toll-Free Helpline 1064. The complainant alleged that despite having completed construction of a broiler farm in April 2025—making him eligible for a total subsidy of Rs 90,000—officials had been demanding Rs 5,000 to release the second phase subsidy of Rs 54,000.
Based on the tip-off, Vigilance authorities laid a trap and caught the accused duo red-handed while accepting the bribe from the beneficiary. The entire amount was recovered and seized during the operation.
Simultaneously, search operations were launched at two locations associated with Dr. Soren to ascertain potential disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered under Sections 7 and 12 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, with Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station (Case No.14 dated 06.07.2025). Investigations are ongoing against both Dr. Soren and Sri Sahu.
The operation reaffirms Odisha Vigilance’s firm stance against corruption, especially in the disbursement of government subsidies aimed at boosting rural entrepreneurship in livestock and poultry farming.
