The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished the house of fugitive murder suspect Raja Nayak on Friday.
Nayak, accused in the brutal daylight murder of Sahadeb Nayak near the Rasulgarh-Vani Vihar overbridge on January 8, remains on the run, prompting the police to declare him an absconder.
The shocking incident saw notorious criminal Lipika Nayak, disguised as a man, allegedly carry out the gruesome crime with accomplices. The murder, executed in broad daylight, involved deadly weapon attacks leading to dismemberment, after which the suspects fled the scene on motorcycles.
Following the police’s declaration of Nayak as an absconder, BMC officials arrived with bulldozers to raze his home. Raja Nayak’s family initially refused to vacate, but were later removed with police assistance before the structure was levelled.
Authorities continue their search for Nayak while the case remains under active investigation.
