The Directorate of Factories and Boilers organised a state-level training workshop in Bhubaneswar on December 5, 2025, focusing on the role of safety officers in accident prevention.

The Labour and Employees State Insurance Department approved the program to strengthen workplace safety across industries. The training aimed to empower safety officers with practical skills in hazard identification, accident prevention, and safe work practices.

Fifty-four safety officers attended the second phase of the workshop at the State Labour Institute. The program emphasised proactive measures to reduce risks and improve workplace efficiency.

Dr Malay Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Director (Safety), addressed the gathering. He highlighted that safety requires vigilance and organised effort. He urged officers to identify hazards, raise awareness among workers, enforce safety protocols, and respond quickly to emergencies.

Senior officials, including Anil Kumar Nanda and Upendra Prasad Yadav, participated in the session. Industry representatives from Tata Steel and IOCL Paradip Refinery also joined discussions on strengthening safety culture. They shared insights on safe practices and future strategies to enhance workplace quality.

The workshop concluded with certificate distribution to the participating safety officers. Organisers stressed that trained officers will play a critical role in reducing accidents and ensuring secure, productive workplaces.

The initiative reinforced the government’s commitment to prioritising worker safety and promoting accident prevention across factories in Odisha.
