New Delhi: The World champions Indian team had a special cake-cutting ceremony at the ITC Maurya hotel in Delhi. The Men in Blue had donned the custom-made ‘India champions’ jerseys as they headed to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The special cake curated by the chefs of ITC Maurya had created a three-tier cake which had the hues of orange, blue and white, representing the colours of India’s T20I jersey. The cake was topped with the replica of the coveted silverware that India won and had photographs of India lifting the trophy.
The hotel staff were present and cheered for the heroes as World Cup winning captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid headed the cake-cutting ceremony. Star India batter Virat Kohli also received a rousing reception from the hotel staff as he arrived to cut the cake. Team India’s vice-captain Hardik Pandya and other players also followed soon as they headed to the team bus. The team will head to meet PM Modi at his residence in Delhi.
