Odisha is set to receive widespread rainfall starting today, bringing much-needed relief from the oppressive heat.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for the entire state, citing the influence of an active trough line.
Heavy rainfall is particularly expected in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts, where precipitation may range between 7 to 11 centimetres. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are also likely in some areas.
Tomorrow, the yellow alert will extend to 20 districts across coastal, western, and northern Odisha. Six districts—Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda—are forecast to receive extremely heavy rainfall.
On August 8, the alert will continue for 19 districts, excluding coastal Odisha. The IMD urges residents to stay cautious and follow safety advisories during this period of intense weather activity.
