Bhubaneswar: In another development in the fake doctor Ramesh Swain’s case, the Bhubaneswar SDJM court granted police the permission to take the accused’s second wife on five-day remand.
The court however did not allow extending remand period of Ramesh.
The Twin City Commissionerate Police arrested Kamala Tirkey, Ramesh’s second wife from Jharkhand. Incidentally, she is a real doctor.
The woman was arrested for allegedly supporting Ramesh in cheating the women and her involvement in the offences. She was on the run since the arrest of Ramesh.
The investigators came to know regarding Kamala’s involvement in the crime while interrogating Ramesh during remand period.
Earlier on February 23, police had arrested Rashmita Beura, sister of Ramesh. She had allegedly identified herself as the sister of Ramesh before the victims in order to reinforce his identity and win their trust. She also told the women that her brother was a doctor.
The Twin City Commissionerate Police had on February 14 arrested Swain. A father of five children, Swain had married his first wife in 1982 and second wife in 2002. Between 2002 and 2020, he befriended other women through matrimonial websites and married them.
