Rama Devi Women’s University (RDWU) marked a historic moment with the launch of the book “Women of Power: A Tale of Two Civilizations (India & Greece)”, co-authored by Professor Sucheta Priyabadini and Dr. Lopamudra Priyadarshini.

Sponsored by the Arohan Trust and chaired by Swopnendu Mohanti, the book is a unique intellectual collaboration that highlights the timeless influence of women in shaping civilizations.

The book juxtaposes the stories of Indian and Greek women—from mythological icons to modern changemakers—emphasizing their roles in nurturing society, leading transformation, and challenging norms. Professor Priyabadini brings forth the Indian narrative, celebrating figures from Goddess Durga to contemporary reformers. Dr. Priyadarshini, drawing from her decade-long experience in Greece, explores the contributions of Greek women from Athena’s wisdom to modern democratic struggles.

The ceremonial launch was graced by Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, Ambassador of Greece to India, and Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida. Ambassador Koutsomitopoulou praised the book as “a tribute to the spirit of women who carry the weight of history and inspire future generations.” Deputy CM Parida emphasized, “Women empowerment must evolve from a dream to a living reality. This book reminds us that women have always been pillars of progress.”

The event began with floral tributes to Maa Rama Devi and a lamp-lighting ceremony. Professor Priyabadini delivered the welcome address, followed by greetings from Registrar Manaswini Sahu and Vice Chancellor Prof. Chandi Charan Rath. Dr. Priyadarshini concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks. The program was coordinated by Jyotatsini Jajnaseni from RDWU’s MRDC.
