The rescue operation to save a 3.5-year-old girl, who fell into a 150-ft borewell three days back, is still underway in Kiratpura village of Rajasthan’s Kotputli.
The girl fell into the borewell on December 23 at around 2 pm while playing at the agricultural farm of her father. Soon after this, teams of NDRF and SDRF were roped in for the rescue operation. The rescuers are continuously working to save the child for nearly 67 hours now and the operations have entered day four.
Speaking on the progress, the NDRF team in charge said that they need to dig around 170 m more to rescue the child and the same is likely to be completed today. They are digging a tunnel parallel to the borewell from where the girl will be taken out.
” Digging was being done with piling machine, as went down till 150 m, after that a stone was found so we changed the piling machine. Right now have dug till 160 m, and we need to dig till 170 m deep down…hopefully we will complete it (rescue operation) today,” Yogesh Kumar Meena, in-charge NDRF team, said.
The officials earlier managed to capture the girl’s actions on camera and a pipe was lowered into the borewell to supply oxygen. On Wednesday, the workers were able to pull the child 30 feet above where she was.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Brajesh Chaudhary on Tuesday said that the priority of the rescue team now is to save the child alive.
