Sambalpur: At least 18 senior students of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla were penalised for allegedly being involved in a “ragging” incident here.
The accused have been imposed a collective fine of Rs 54,000 following recommendations of the anti-ragging committee of the institute.
The seniors have also been issued a warning letter against the recurrence of such activities. Their parents have been too apprised regarding the matter so that they can counsel their wards.
Based on the recommendations of the anti-ragging committee of the institute, the fine was slapped on them.
Notably, few second-year students of VIMSAR had levelled ragging allegations against a group of fourth-year students. Based on it, Dean Jayashree Dora had directed the Anti-Ragging Committee to probe into the allegations.
