In a stern rebuke amid escalating religious tensions, Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati has condemned the persistent violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, declaring that such acts are tantamount to “inviting disaster” upon the nation.

Speaking at an event in Raipur, the prominent spiritual leader emphasised the grave consequences of targeting the Hindu minority. “Attacking Hindus amounts to inviting catastrophe,” he stated, underscoring the historical and cultural ties that bind the region. He further noted that the ancestors of many Muslims in Bangladesh were once adherents of Sanatan Dharma, the eternal principles of Hinduism, highlighting a shared heritage that he believes is being disregarded.

Swami Nishchalananda did not mince words in his criticism of the perpetrators. “By killing Hindus, the Muslims in Bangladesh have shown themselves as misguided and astray,” he said, framing the violence as a deviation from righteous paths. His remarks resonate deeply in the context of ongoing reports detailing the persecution of Hindus, including assaults on homes, temples, and individuals, which have intensified following political instability in Bangladesh earlier this year.
