In a shocking incident that rocked Puri’s Gudi Sahi, the local police have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of senior sevayat Jagannath Dikshit. The accused, Narayan Pattajoshi, a resident of Gudi Sahi, was apprehended by the Town police station and presented before the court on Monday. With bail denied, Narayan has been sent to jail custody as investigations continue.
The tragic event occurred on Wednesday, June 11, when Jagannath, a respected sevayat from Harachandi Sahi Mahasuar Sahi, visited Narayan’s residence.
According to chilling CCTV footage, Narayan was seen dragging an unconscious and bloodied Jagannath out of his house and dumping him in a nearby ditch. The footage, which has gone viral, served as critical evidence in identifying the suspect. Police recovered Jagannath’s body in a pool of blood and rushed it to a medical facility, where he was declared dead.
Following a complaint lodged by Jagannath’s family member Bhimasen Dikshit, the Town police registered a murder case. The family alleges a personal dispute between the two men, though the exact motive remains under investigation.
