Puri: The National Monument Authority (NMA) has granted no objection certificate (NOC) for the construction of reception centre, a foremost part of the State government’s ambitious Srimandir Parikrama Project.
The NMA has allowed construction of the centre in the regulated zone with some conditions.
The centre will manage a queue of 6,000 persons and provide facilities like a cloakroom, drinking water, toilets to the visitors. It will be built over half an acre of land available next to Shree Jagannath Heritage Corridor on the south-east side.
Similarly, the NMA also permitted the construction of additional toilets cloak room near west gate of the temple. The monument body also suggested lowering the height of shelter pavilion. Information centre, donation kiosk, first aid centre have also been get NMA nod for the construction. These centres will be built in the regulated area around the shrine.
“The Authority recommended grant of NOC for construction of Shree Jagannatha Reception Centre in the regulated area at a distance of 101.50 meters from the protected monument with a height of 7.50 meters (G+1), inclusive all with the floor area of GF = 1365 sqm and FF =1305 sqm and Mezzanine floor = 143 sqm,” stated a NMA letter.
Earlier, the Jagannath Reception Centre was proposed in the prohibited area of the shrine. In the original plan, the centre was proposed over an area of 7,917 sq metre in a G+2 structure
