Puri: As the New Year 2025 approaches, Puri Police have implemented extensive security measures to ensure the safety and enjoyment of both devotees and tourists visiting the holy city. With the influx of visitors to Lord Jagannath’s temple and the surrounding areas, the police have established special zones and enhanced surveillance to maintain order and prevent any untoward incidents.
Security Measures:
Temple Security: The temple has been divided into five security zones inside and four zones outside to manage the crowd effectively. Special barricades have been set up from Market Chhaka to the temple.
Traffic Regulations: Traffic management has been divided into two zones for outside traffic and four zones for inside traffic. Designated parking areas have been secured to avoid congestion.
Special Security Zones: A No Vehicle Zone has been established from Subash Bose Street to the Light House to provide a pleasant experience for beach visitors.
Control Room: A 24-hour Integrated Control Room above the Traffic Station has been set up to monitor and manage all operations efficiently.
Beach Safety: An outpost has been established on the beach with officers and force deployed for tourist safety. Additionally, 120 lifeguards are stationed at various points along the beach.
Care for Senior Citizens and Special Needs Visitors: A dedicated team, supported by Yuva Shakti volunteers, will visit senior citizens and differently-abled individuals to ensure their safety and comfort.
Anti-Snatching Teams: Special anti-snatching teams have been deployed at public places to prevent theft and pickpocketing.
Tourist Spots: Enhanced security and management have been arranged at key tourist locations, including Konark, Satpada, Ramchandi, Jahaniapir, and Baliharchandi.
Hotel Celebrations: Zero Night celebrations in hotels will be closely monitored to ensure the safety and enjoyment of tourists.
Puri SP Vinit Agarwal urged all residents, pilgrims, and tourists to cooperate with the police, follow regulations, and contribute to the peaceful celebration of the New Year.
