Puri: After the death of four tourists due to drowning in sea within a span of two days, the district administration has put up red flags on the beach in order to make aware tourists about the mishap zones.
The red flags indicating danger zone have been put up at sector 11,12, 13, 14 of the beach as a precautionary measure.
The flags were installed after identifying specific accident areas in a bid to prevent tourists from going there.
On Wednesday, a tourist Ranjan Das and his 16-year-old son drowned in the sea while bathing. Similarly, two youths from West Bengal, Arindam and Ajay, also faced similar fate during bathing in the sea in the next day.
Red flags have been installed to make people aware regarding possibility of high tide in the sea due to Buddha Purnima on Friday.
Officials said, tourists coming from far-off places are unaware of this, due to which such incidents are happening. The administration has put up red flag to prevent such incidents.
Notably, Puri is drawing lakhs of tourists as the Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath is going on. The sea beach which is the major attraction of the pilgrim town also witnesses heavy crowd.
